How long should I take Optim Curcuma?

Optim Curcuma can be taken daily for at least a month and all year long. The dose or the frequency intake can then be adapted depending on the expected benefits and according to your health practitioner.

 

How many capsules of Optim Curcuma should I take a day?

It is recommended to take one capsule a day. If needed, you can however increase the daily intake up to two capsules a day during the first week of the cure.

 

Is this safe?

The patented formulation Longvida of Optim Curcuma did not show any side effects in healthy human taking up to 4 grams per day, i.e. the equivalent of 10 capsules (Gota et al 2010).

 

Can turmeric or curcumin interact, for instance, with anti-inflammatory drugs?

In 2009, the European Medicines Agency published a monograph (comprehensive study) on Turmeric (Curcuma Longa L.). This monograph does not report any interactions with other medicinal products and other forms of interactions.

 

Are there any contraindications in taking curcumin from turmeric?

Curcumin from Turmeric o Curcuma Longa plant was reported to stimulate the gall bladder. This is the reason why, curcumin  is contraindicated in people with biliary tract obstructions. (OMS monographie). If in doubt, seek advice from your health professional.

What is the difference between Optim Curcuma and a curcuma powder spice?”

A typical dry powder of curcuma found in the food store contains only between 2 to 5% curcumin.

A study performed in the universities of Michigan and San Diego (Lao 2006) shows that pure curcumin (95%) is not absorbed in the blood for doses up to 8 grams per day, i.e., the equivalent of tens of grams of turmeric powder.

This is the reason why the formulation of’Optim Curcuma has been developed to increase by at least 65 times the absorption of the active form of curcumin in the body.

 

Does Optim Curcuma contain black pepper or piperine?

What is the difference between Optim Curcuma and curcumin or turmeric formulations incorporating black pepper (piperine)?

Adding black pepper to curcumin powder does not increase the absorption of the free, i.e. active, curcumin in the body.
